What is the District Court?

The District Court is held in the county seat of each county for the several judicial districts of North Carolina.  Some judicial districts are comprised of several counties, while others are of a single county.  The District Court hears cases of civil, criminal and juvenile matters.   Because it hears cases of crime, civil, family, and juvenile matters, the District Court is considered by some to be the court which most effects the local community.  Jay is running for District Court Judge for the 28th Judicial District, which is comprised of Buncombe County only.  All registered voters of Buncombe County may vote for Jay for District Court Judge.
